I like where Xbox is going.

Edit: Really loving the discussions being had here. My intention was to have a little positive and constructive discourse. We all know these are greedy corporations, but they still have to appeal to our love of gaming if they want our money and loyalty.

I think Microsoft has the same problem with Xbox that they had on PC. People got locked into their Steam libraries and convincing them to buy games elsewhere was a hard sell. People on consoles are locked into their PlayStation libraries. You MIGHT convince them to buy an Xbox just to play exclusives. But that’s not enough, they’re going to buy most of their games on PlayStation. Convincing someone to buy a console, and then just pay a subscription is more likely. But offering to sell them the game on PlayStation makes sense. These games are costing a fortune to make and even Sony is realizing they have to sell their games elsewhere.

These additional revenue streams just fund the games we want in the future. I think Gamepass is a great value, I love it. I am a PC gamer and I love Steam, but I got an Xbox because I wanted something for the tv and it’s easier and more affordable right now. I like that I can just pay $20 a month and get every new Xbox game and even more. I still buy a lot of games on Xbox, and I buy games on Steam including PlayStation games. I’ve had PlayStations but if I ever got one again it would just be to buy some of their exclusives. I’d buy cross platform games on my Xbox or Steam because that’s where my libraries are. For Sony, it would benefit them to just let me buy it on my Xbox or Steam.

Sorry for the novel. Just some thoughts I’ve been having and I wanted to share. I personally love what Xbox is doing. I enjoy playing cloud games on my phone at work. I play on my old ass PC still and pick it up on my Xbox in 4k. Oh, I have a ROG ally too and I’m hoping for better support from Xbox in the future.
