"Don't call meat eaters carnists" was a big mistake

If you take people who are objective when it comes to promoting veganism, it's passionate vegans. All other groups (vegetarians and corpse eaters) have a special interest, which is to not be annoyed. Vegans meanwhile only care about reducing animal suffering, so they will use the method that is truly better for the cause, without caring about the annoyance of others. The ONLY people who say "don't push" are carnists, NO exception!

2 years ago, I was a vegetarian (in other words, a carnist) and I made a post in which I said vegans were pushing people away by calling them carnists. In this post, people did not cuddle me and say "don't worry you are only abusing animals a little bit", some people pointed out I was not even vegan yet and downvoted my dumb comments. I was offended and all, and yet, I am vegan today.

In December 2024, I started being a pushy vegan in online places, and people said the same thing. "Stop being pushy, it's not the right place!" And yet, many people were convinced to go vegan (they explicitly told me so).

Thank you, r/vegan. I did not appreciate being pushed around, and yet, you made me switch.
