Issues with screen tearing while gaming using gaming laptop via HDMI to 4K TV
Hello! I recently got a Hisense 50A7KAU for my room and decided to try hooking my gaming laptop up to see if I could play games through the TV, and while it is mostly working fine, I have noticed issues with screen tearing on it. (I have also noticed this issue while playing shows in fullscreen using MPV, but strangely, not when it is in windowed mode or if I'm watching YouTube videos.) I have tried everything I've found on the web (setting the max refresh rate to 60 Hz on both my laptop and my TV, limiting in-game FPS to 60 FPS, etc.), but I still seem to be having trouble with it even though they should in theory be playing the same refresh rate. I upgraded to a HDMI 2.1 cable to see if that would help, but I still seem to be having the same issue, so I thought I'd ask on here in case there's some obscure setting that's causing the problem!
SPECS:
TV: Hisense 50A7KAU (3840 x 2160, 60Hz) with a HDMI 2.1 cable (unsure what type the previous HDMI cable was)
Laptop: AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU, NVIDIA Geforce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU, 16.0 GB RAM
Let me know if any more information is needed!
(I'd also like to note that I've been trying to avoid setting in-game resolution to 4K and instead keeping them at my laptop's native resolution (2560 x 1440 or 2560 x 1600) for performance reasons, if that could possibly contribute.)
