Why is organ donation/harvesting such a big theme in this show

Is it just a kdrama trope? I remember a kdrama where a man donates his eyes to a blind girl he’s in love with as some huge romantic gesture . Is organ donation just a commonly used mechanism to introduce high stakes/melodrama in Korean shows?

or is it something more?

• People being threatened with organ harvesting if they can’t pay debts

• The pink guards harvesting players organs for money

• inho’s wife needed a liver transplant she presumably never got
