[Question] Curious About the Rise and Fall of My Music Playlist's Popularity
Some time ago, I created a playlist featuring ambient music, designed to help me focus. Initially, it was for my own use, but I shared it with a few friends. After a few months, the playlist had around 20 'saves.' Over the next few months, this number gradually increased, likely due to recommendations from those who had already saved it to their friends. After about a year or two, around 30 people had saved the playlist. While it wasn't a major concern for me, I added a picture and a short description.
It took another year or so to build the playlist further, as I continuously added tracks that I thought would fit the atmosphere. I want to emphasize that this was for my own use; I wasn't promoting it anywhere. About a year ago, I noticed that the number of people following it had increased to around 100, and it continued to grow steadily. Out of curiosity, I checked on it from time to time, and by last September, there were new followers every day, sometimes more. The number of 'saves' surpassed 500, and then something changed. It seems to have plateaued; last month, there was maybe one new person who liked the playlist.
As I mentioned, it's primarily for my own use, so it doesn't bother me much, but it is an interesting situation. I’m curious about what might have caused the increase last year and what has changed since then. Do you have any insights on this?
TL;DR: I created an ambient music playlist for personal use, which gained popularity over time, reaching over 500 saves. Recently, the number of new followers has significantly decreased. I'm curious about the reasons behind the initial growth and the current decline.
