Which retro game has the best soundtrack? (Possibly nominations for a future poll)
“Retro” is defined here as “either released before 2000 or later than that only if it was made for a pre-2000 device such as the Dreamcast”.
Original compositions are what I’m talking about, not public domain soundtracks nor jukebox musical-type things primarily consisting of existing pop songs such as Moonwalker.
The tournament brackets poll I’d been working on before hasn’t exactly panned out; I couldn’t figure out the logistics to make it both interesting and properly fair. We may be doing this one instead—and even if not I’ll hopefully still be generating some interesting discussion.
My own nominations: Wave Race 64, Golden Axe, Fester’s Quest, King’s Quest 5, Out to Lunch, Pitfall 2: Lost Caverns (the pioneer), Willow for the NES, Bayou Billy, SimCity, and Ridge Racer Type 4.
