Stop making fun of music taste
My friend and I were in class and she looked over at me and told me my music taste was from tiktok (or smth like that.) Why? I listen to Billie Ellish. I was kind of offended because usually when someone says that to you it's meant in a negative way(how im assuming she meant it). I have been listening to Billie Ellish since she came out with Ocean eyes btw. I was in 5th grade in elementary school, and between now and then I have heard much more of her music. One of my step siblings listened to Billie Ellish before Covid. The same with Oliva Rodrigo (who she didn't mention) I have been listening to her when she first started making music. OF COURSE when they come out with new music, even if i hear about it from tiktok.
So yes I am 'influenced' to listening to peoples music, I was also influenced by tiktok to listen to Indie music in 2020. Doesn't mean it's bad music, I still listen to that 2020 music to this day. Tiktoks job is to influence, that's kind of the whole point. Also why is it BAD that someone listens to 'tiktok music' or 'popular' music. Who actually cares? We don't have to make fun of who people listen to because they were 'influenced' by something that's supposed to influence people. Everyone is influenced by something or someone. Sorry I don't listen to some indie band with under 1k monthly listeners on Spotify.
Thank you for reading this rant, ik it's stupid but I've been thinking about it and I wanted to type it out, also I'm in a rush so sorry if this makes 0 sense.
