Does being a scapegoat make it hard to trust other people?

I didn't even learn about being a scapegoat until my 40s.

However, I noticed that if something needed to be done, I'd do it myself. I also found it hard to trust other people.

Later, I cut ties with my siblings because I saw how they enabled the narcissist in my family. The narcissist was arrested by the police and we (the children) stood together in solidarity. Later, one sibling re-engaged with the narcissist and he welcomed everyone back except me.

I'm better now but also recognize why I have trust issues even with people who aren't toxic.

So those of you who were scapegoats, do you have trust issues? If so, how have you been able to overcome this?
