Help needed with base

PLEASE HELP the tower on the right and left are both 8 log walls away from their respective gates, but the fences on the roof are uneven and it makes it asymmetrical. I kept messing around with it but couldn't figure out why the fences on the left add up to 8, while the fences on the right add up to 6. Could someone help me out in solving this?
