Comedy-Horror films of the last decade 🔪🔪
The 30’s/40’s had monstrous creature features, the 50’s/60’s had hitchcockian psychological thrillers, the 70’s/80’s was the peak of slasher flicks, the 90’s were all about supernatural spookiness, and the 2000’s had torture porn, found footage, and lots of subpar sequels and reboots.
In the last decade though, subversive horror has been popularized by films like Jordan Peele’s “Get Out” and “Pearl” by Ti West. There have been indie hits like “It Follows” and “Green Room”. And of course, there’s A24’s slate of critically acclaimed films like Midsommar, Hereditary, and the Witch.
As someone who likes a some humour (dark or otherwise) in their horror films, movies like Freaky and Happy Death Day are infinitely rewatchable and enjoyable to me.
