In a completely hypothetical scenario, if the Pope were to die in the next few days, would Conclave emerge as the frontrunner for BP?

I’m not saying he will, nor am I rooting for such a thing, please. I’m just wondering if a real-life event like that could influence the Oscars’ voting. (As a former catholic kid turned agnostic, I feel guilty even speculating about this… lol).

Now, returning to our very (un)serious discussion: the thing is, I grew up in a small, deeply Catholic town. I was like nine years old when Pope John Paul II died. It was one of those "remember exactly where I was and what I was doing" moments. The church bells rang nonstop, it was a big deal at the time. But as some of you pointed out, maybe it wouldn’t have such a huge impact for the Oscars, since I guess there are not that many catholics in the voting body. But anyway, there's only one way to find out... (I'm just kidding! Please Pope Francis don't send me to hell lol)
