11 Premodern Cards Moving in the last week
I posted last week about some cards that had moved due to Premodern. After being vindicated by u/Newez's post about Exalted Angel, I decided to look up what has gone up this week.
12 Cards
[[Meddling Mage]] (Planeshift) up to $24
[[Genesis]] (Judgement) up to $4, played as a one of in the newly popular Rec-Sur deck
[[Karplusan Forest]] (6th ed) up to $7.50, possibly due to the success of a RG aggro deck
[[Karplusan Forest]] (Ice Age) up over $13, same RG aggro deck
[[Sarcomancy]] (Reserved List) up to $8, due to success of the budding popular BG aggro deck in the format which sacs permanents to [[Drinker of Sorrow]]
[[Goblin Piledriver]] (Onslaught) now up to $13, a staple in the T1 Goblins deck
[[Masticore]] (Reserved List, Urza's Destiny) now up to $15, plays in many decks in the format.
[[Attunement]] (Urza's Saga) up to $7.39, played in the T1 Replenish deck.
[[Parallax Wave]] (Nemesis) now up over $23, played in the tier 1 Replenish deck, as well as other white Weenie and control decks.
[[Powder Keg]] (Reserved List, Urza's Destiny) up over $19, played as a sideboard card in many decks, chief among is the very popular Mono Blue Dreadnought deck.
[[Oath of Druids]] (Exodus) up over $15, played in the Tier 1 Oath decks of the format.
[[Academy Rector]] (Reserved List, Urza's Destiny) up over $60, played in many decks in the format, now popular due to the "Dance Academy" deck.
All of these are old frame printings from the era only. Most, not all, players in the format would rather buy foreign language old frame prints than buy a new frame version. Most players also believe the color on new "Retro Frame" reprints to be off, preferring the original prints or white/gold bordered reprints if necessary.
To the critics saying that this is due to low supply... Who do you think has been buying these cards for the last 5 years or so? It's the Premodern players, not speculators here. This is organic low supply. It is highly unlikely cards are going to come flooding on to the market and drop the price like what would normally be the case in a buyout or sudden price spike. Many gold bordered prints have almost all dried up and haven't seen new cards added to supply in years. What you see is what is there of people willing to sell.
