Contemplating buying a 16gb Kindle

I’m not sure if buying a kindle is worth it. Couldn’t I I just download books onto my iPad? What is the advantage, please convince me🤭 The second part of my question is what are the best sites to get books for my kindle, and how much do you pay for books?
