Fishpond Nomad or Orvis Widemouth?

Folks, I'm looking for some first hand experience here about these two nets and about the hand net vs. mid length handle.

I currently carry one of those el-cheapo wooden nets with the rubber bag. Nothing wrong with it but I'm just in a position to add something a little nicer to my kit. I'm back and forth between the Mid length Nomad and the Orvis Widemouth hand net. I currently fish with a sling pack and I'd like something that stows away pretty neatly.

My goals:

Lightweight

Slides in and out of the pack easily

Stays out of the damn way when I don't need it.

Clearly, the Nomad has it's fan section. It's rugged and light (would it be lighter than my wooden net?) and it has the extra reach, but it also has the extra size sticking out in the pack. Maybe the long handle makes it easier to stow?

I'm leaning toward the Orvis Widemouth hand net (not guide length) and honestly the reason is that the whole thing, including bag seems lighter and less bulky. Overall length and width is just slightly bigger than what I'm carrying now but I'm hoping it would actually be lighter because it doesn't have that rubber bag. Maybe it would even stow a little better in the sling?

I read somewhere that the actual difference in weight between carbon fiber and wood is really negligible, but those clear rubber bags are heavier. I realize we're talking about small differences here and I'm not trying to go "ultra light" but every ounce I can save my back carrying is worth it to me.
