Disappointed with results
I've been going to F45 since October 2023, pretty much every day aside from when I went home for Christmas and New Year's (so about two weeks off)... When I first signed up for F45, I had just finished 75 Hard and I did a body scan. During 75H, most of my "workouts" were just walks but my diet was solid and I stayed off alcohol so I had about 20% body fat.
Today, I took another body scan expecting to have had some muscle gains and fat loss but the exact opposite happened. I've gone up in body fat (up to about 23%) and down in muscle, despite looking and feeling like I've shed some fat and gained a bunch of muscle. For example, when I started F45, I couldn't do a single pull up and now I can do at least 5 or 6. I'm just disappointed and frustrated. I know these tests aren't the most accurate and I let myself go a bit during the holidays. And I would have been fine with gaining a bit of fat (preferred to have lost or stayed the same) since my first body scan but it's the loss of muscle that really disappoints me. I feel like I've been dieting and exercising for so long now and I've barely made any difference in the way my body looks. Do I feel stronger and leaner? A bit, yes. But according to these results, I've actually become flabbier! I do look a bit better, I guess. But when I look at my progress pictures from August (when I started 75H) to now, I'm not wowed by the change. I know I can do more, of course, to speed up this body recomp process but I already feel like I'm doing so much that I should see more of a difference in the 5 months I've been working towards this goal.
For reference, I'm 25M, 190 lbs, 5'10''. I'm considering going back to a normal gym to supplement my F45 workouts with heavy lifting. I love F45 and it's really gotten me into fitness in measures I could have never expected. But I'm not sure if it's helping me achieve my goals aside from cardiovascular health.
