tribecar accident

ok so i did fuck up but i will lay down the facts objectively. am a p plate kid. yesterday evening i got tribecar to do some errands. tips and advice before monday would be much appreciated as i will be going down to their workshop thing for reporting then.

i was on pie during the evening rush, traffic was slow. had one of those tall open back lorries (with the wooden backboard) in front of me. the brakes of this car felt pretty worn from the moment i started up and drove out. alas i kissed the lorry because the brakes were not cooperating and my front hood got damaged. got off pie, my boyfriend and i tried inspecting and did not really find any internal damages (esp engine) as it was all just the metal frame damage. reported to tribecar because honestly its my first time doing with them and i alr got into an accident so i was a bit frantic and just wanted to follow rules. i pulled over at a small road next to a gas station to wait, some uncle came up to me and talked to me a bit about the accident. i explained that i rented it to run errands and such. he also knows that the company will suck money and told me to go fix it myself as it would be like max 1.7k as opposed to the potential 10k plus.

so because i didnt think to do any insurance addons and such, their support is telling me that i will have to do 5k + 5k third party when the lorry had almost no damage. (save for the wooden backboard that had the slightest cave in and a slightly dented back number plate which i also dk if its because of the impact). in addition to that i was also told that this was excluding loss of rental and gst (????? dont really understand, could someone help me here)

bf and his family finds it absolutely ridiculous (as expected, i do too). told me to try explaining to them that it is a mechanical failure. so because p plate gets old cars (mine was toyota altis) there is no camera. the mechanic and workshop is obviously tribecars own one. so they will probably just "extort" me. bf family even suggests bringing up to CASE but it seems futile to me because i am obviously at the losing end here due to tncs and whatnot. honestly im ok with just forking up and letting the incident pass over. im just a student waiting for uni but i do have enough to pay up (begrudgingly) but bfs family seems quite hopeful(?) and are telling me to try going to CASE. should i?

tldr; 3rd party accident without insurance addons on tribecar, 3rd party damage minimal. p plate so old car, no front camera. support says 5k + 5k minimal. i am willing to just pay up, but bf and family says to explain mechanical (brake) issue and bring up to CASE. is it worth to try CASE? please help, i will be reporting on monday so any advice before then would be great. or tips on what to expect too.

edit update: first off lemme clear the air, reporting wasnt all that bad. managed to clear things up with the team.

being a new driver and all, they have been nothing but helpful were very patient in clarifying and explaining the processes and the logic behind it. patiently gave an overview of their different teams handling different fronts of the whole company, so i could understand how such companies operate.

at the end of the day i just wanna say im super grateful for their help.
