My daughter has local cousins that she’ll never know and it boggles my mind how their parents will let that happen.

My wife has a sibling who lives in our town and has a kids the same age as ours. We never see them. Trying to see them on holidays is like pulling teeth and during the holiday season we only get together for an hour.

My siblings live 2 hours away and they have kids the same age. We see them probably once a month, maybe more on average. We face time them pretty regularly. When I ask my children who their cousins are they will only say their names. We remind them of the others.

It’s crazy to me that parents will allow this to happen. Cousins were a huge part of my life growing up and even well into adulthood I could spend a few hours with them without it getting awkward or dull. In fact, once every few months we will drive 2-3 hours to see my cousins and their kids.

I feel bad for my wife’s siblings kids. I feel like they are missing out on a huge part of life and it’s incredibly unfair and selfish of their parents for not facilitating it.
