ATSC 3.0 and the Super Bowl
I’m in the Austin area and was excited to host my first Super Bowl party for LIX without needing to hunt down a relative’s cable login. Even more exciting: the Fox channel in Austin has a 4K channel for their ATSC 3.0 offering. One problem, that channel has been unavailable for nearly a month on my TV (unable to tell if it’s a full shutdown or something wrong with the TV) and I’ve also noticed spotty resolution from other NextGenTV channels from our local NBC and CBS affiliates. Last night when watching the Chiefs game the resolution collapsed whenever confetti was on screen from obvious compression issues so I switched to the standard CBS feed to find crystal clear HD from that channel. Is this worth trouble shooting at all or should I just watch the Fox HD feed come Super Bowl Sunday and miss out on Kendrick’s halftime show in glorious (upscaled) 4K?
Edit: I have a Hisense U8N from 2024 if anybody has had similar issues. Fellow austinites please let me know if you also can’t access Fox UHD on channel 7.1
