Help me understand the degree of backlash
I definitely understand that he slept with a girl who was legally under age. That is wrong, I understand that.
But I don’t understand the extent of the anger. She was 17 and he was 25, clearly outside of the range of what should be acceptable. But it doesn’t seem viscerally egregious… I mean she was clearly physically developed and looked like someone a straight adult man would be attracted to if they didn’t know her age. Of course it wouldn’t be right to act on in it when you did realize her age — I don’t even want that to be insinuated. But they both consented, and it’s not like she was a vacant minded child. She was 17 going on 18. I don’t understand how this could be perceived as anything close to Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby or SA (which I’ve seen all attributed to this). I mean this so genuinely, can someone help me understand why some are saying cody should stop uploading due to this? Or even why this would be traumatic to a person?
Like I said, it seemed they were both consenting and she wasn’t like a mindless child who didn’t even understand what sex was. I don't understand how people are percieving it. I wholeheartedly acknowledge that I’ve never been a 17yo girl. But I’ve been 17 and it wasn’t too long ago… or would this be viewed as wrong even if she were 18? Because if that’s your view it definitely makes a bit more sense to me. But I hear a lot of people emphasizing that the reasoning behind their frustration is the fact that quote it’s a crime. This makes me think they would not have been as upset if she had turned 18 at that point.
Please try not to drag me too hard… I’m a bit on the spectrum and genuinely intending to understand, not intending to offend.
