Who here picks up hitchhikers? Driving since 2017 and I've been scared to do so (both socially and safety)

Question says it all, curious what others thoughts are. My dad when he was younger picked them up all the time (from a small town where everyone knew everyone so it makes sense he woulda)

But what's your guys thoughts?
