Have you been told you "must hate men" if you hyphenated or kept your last name after marriage?

In the 13 years since I got married and hyphenated my last name, I've been told literally hundreds of times by men that I "must hate men" because I didn't completely remove my last name and use only my husband's.

I mentioned this in comment in a different sub (it was a relevant thread) and I have a guy "refusing to change [his] position" (lmfao) unless I can find "real sources" that "prove" this happens. (As if my personal experience of 13 years somehow isn't "real"?) He claims I'm "making this up for attention." What?? To be honest, I'm kind of surprised even the most dedicated misogynist would try to deny there are millions of men out there who are offended when women hyphenate or keep their last names after marriage. I really thought it was just common public knowledge that there are a lot of men who get wildly offended at this? Like to the point of rage so explosive it seems violent?

I certainly know I'm not alone; how many of you have experienced this?

Edit: a lot of people have been asking me about what kind of area I'm in, so I figured I would add that I am in a very, very conservative area. And this happens primarily when people see my name written out. Like for example, our dental hygienist asked my husband how much it bothered him/how mad he is that I hyphenated instead of just taking his name. And when I interact on nextdoor, my whole full name is there and I get at least one nasty comment about it literally every time. After a few years I removed my last name entirely from Facebook bc probably once a week I was getting some guy, sometimes in local groups but sometimes just on a random public FB pages, interrupting some conversation I'm having with someone else to tell me I must "hate men" because of my last name. It has been super frequent for me and based on these comments it seems like a lot of it has to do with where I live. I really appreciate so many people commenting on this. This is the first time I've posted here but I am a frequent lurker and occasional commenter. Love this community 🫶🏻

Edit 2: the misogynists have been directed to this post and are triggered enough to be sending me Reddit cares messages 😂 They literally cannot function lol

Here's the response from the douchebag who thinks this has literally never happened before, lmfaoooo: "Yeah, I don't believe it. Has not happened to anyone in my rather large extended family, nor any of my friends or their families, and I've never seen such cases on the news, in studies, nor online."

ON THE NEWS 🤣 he thinks men telling women with hyphenated last names that they hate men would be something that would be reported on the news. Seriously, just how fucking dumb are these guys
