My School life Experience

Hi everyone, I hope you're all doing well. I'm a 21yo female, and I'd like to share some experiences from my school life that deeply affected me. Growing up, I had naturally curly hair, but I wasn’t aware of how to care for it properly. As a result, whenever I styled my hair for school, it often became frizzy and unmanageable. This led to frequent scoldings from teachers—not just in class, but also in front of the entire school during assemblies, in the hallways, and even during recess. I never understood why they had such an issue with me, but I later found out that some teachers even gossiped about me in their staffroom. One of the most humiliating incidents happened during an assembly performance. I was given the role of a maid and was dressed in an old, worn-out suit with a salwar and chunni. Before I could go on stage, a teacher openly criticized my appearance, saying I couldn’t perform looking like that. She then instructed one of her favorite students to apply soil on my face, making me feel even more degraded. Experiences like these made me extremely insecure growing up. Looking back now, I realize that I was subjected to a lot of unnecessary oppression and humiliation. It has taken time for me to understand that their behavior was unfair and wrong.

Have any of you experienced something similar? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
