What Have You Done With Your Gut / Microbiome That Helped With Your Skin?
I am of the personal belief that the vast majority of our skin issues are a symptom of underlying issues within our bodies.
This sounds like a complete non-statement, but nothing just is the way it is for no reason. The human body displays negative symptoms as a result of an underlying issue. If someone is depressed, it is caused by an imbalance of the chemicals in their brain. If someone has an upset stomach, something irritates their stomach and their body is generating pain to signal to the person that someone is wrong. I think the same logic should be applied to our skin and I think the gut and microbiome are the culprit for many people including myself.
While reading a book about dopamine and other neurotransmitters, I can’t remember the context but the author cited a study that was done on rosacea where every single person tested positive for SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) and how once the SIBO was treated, there was a 100% rate of complete rosacea treatment.
All this to say, I am certain my gut is completely messed up but I don’t even know where to begin. What have you done, whether it be testing to identify an issue or an actual protocol of diet and supplementation to heal your gut issues, that positively affected your skin?
Also, I don’t want to pretend to be an expert on any of this stuff, I have just tried so many different topicals and things on the outside that I have no doubt in my mind that something on the inside must be causing the symptoms of rosacea.
