Why am i so sh¡t at this game?

Ive been playing for years now, or atleast since iana and oryx was released, and yet every game i only get 1-2 kills and die each round, is it because i got used to aim assist in other games like apex? Cod and r6 have always beens hard for me, its really discouraging because i love r6, i like playing because the characters are like a father i never had, but i genuinely am not getting better, please dont be mean.
