Critical Hit Variants
I’m consistently not quite satisfied with the standard 1E Pathfinder critical hit rule (rolling a 20 requires rolling again and hitting AC again to confirm the hit, you roll your damage with modifiers a number of times based on the crit modifier). I would ideally prefer a system that cuts down on extra rolling and preserves the excitement of rolling that 20 on your attack roll.
What variant critical hit systems have you used in 1E and how did it play out?
