I have this weird feeling that I’m not knowing enough rules

I’ve been GM a home brew campaign over 8 months now and we’re having fun. Even though I run into an issue of feeling unsure if I forget a rule when determining an outcome of a task proposed by player.

For example:

Player: Hey I want to tell this NPC that I actually did this thing while I in fact did not.

Me: Oh ok you’re lying. Roll for deception. I believe this is simply a Lie action, roll in secret.

Player: I want to ask this NPC to help us do abc.

Me: Sounds like a Diplomacy check. Roll in secret. Later on I found out its a Coerce action or something.

Player: I want to know if I’ve come across this symbol before. (Its a symbol of a rising faction).

Me: Ok. check note. Give me recall knowledge related to the setting if you have it or society. Depending on your pick the DC may be higher/lower.

Player: I want to dress up and disguise myself as someone else.

Me: Ok. Looks like …. You need to use disguise kit for the dressing up/ disguise part and a deception roll if confronted and wanting to hide your identity. I just kind of made it up on the fly here but I believe the description of disguise kit may list more details.

So I have this weird anxiety that I may be missing something out and falling back to the closest skill check that may or may not be the best option. If I’m lucky, the players know and tell me exactly what action they’re doing. But sometimes, none of us know, and I don’t know if that leads to unintended consequences.
