Why are people so angry on Reddit?

Most of the time when I ask a question or post something, even if it’s not a sensitive topic like politics, I either get a lot of hate or downvotes. It makes me feel stupid, and I usually end up removing my post. I don’t feel stupid in real life, but Reddit makes me insecure. Does anyone else have a similar experience?
