How do parents of identical twins tell them apart when they’re newborns?

I have no twins in my family as far back as I can tell, so I've always wondered how do parents of identical twins tell their babies apart up until they establish a more distinct personality or are able to say who they are? Did you put a braclet on one? Sharpie a dot? Or just hope you're calling John "John" and Jake "Jake"?
