[Letter] I'm interested in Psychology, but learning the concepts at my high school are clearly biased in one direction.
I am a conservative Christian going to high school in Minnesota. I've always had an interest in psychology, but watching Jordan Peterson's lectures has really motivated me to pursue it. The problem, however, is that the field is openly biased. Even in the few weeks of AP Psychology I have participated in this year, it seems that my traditional conservative viewpoints are seen as irrelevant. Even claiming that there are biological and psychological differences between men and women has been met with criticism. I am a stubborn person, to be fair, and have openly expressed my viewpoints in class. I know full well that I am a minority view, but I refuse to subscribe to the ideas that my teacher and classmates are projecting forward.
The problem is that it drains my energy. I don't want to continue on this path if I have to continuous fight just for the opportunity for civil discourse. I would like to stand strong and push forward, but I'm wondering if it is worth it.
Any advice in this regard would be incredible. It has been weighing on my mind, and seeing this problem from other viewpoints will hopefully aid my decision.
