Attracting wildlife…differing views to neighbours

I’ve recently moved to a new home, small uk terrace with smallish garden, but enough to have lawn and patio. I’m very respectful of everyone having differing views and likes/dislikes in their spaces, and whilst we can all clearly see into each others gardens, very close proximity, I think we should all be allowed to do our own thing in our spaces, expressing our own preferences.

So here’s the thing….turns out I have a super judgey neighbour, hates wildlife, first convo I got warned off feeding birds, attracting squirrels, comments about not mowing the lawn. I’m planning on a gentle partial rewild and actively want to encourage wildlife into my space. First time I’ve had my own garden and have been so excited about being closer to nature.

Any tips of peacefully managing these differences? I don’t want to endlessly be told off and criticised about doing something that brings me happiness, in my own space.

I imagine people reading this will be sitting on both sides of the fence, so I’m interested in all perspectives 🙂

Edit/Add: just wanted to say thank you to every for your comments! Loved the support, good advice, reasoned perspectives, great ideas and of course the funnier Reddit-esque responses too! The neighbour themselves is actually a very keen gardener but all very ornamental and floral, discussed by them with an air of superiority (their comments spanned many non-garden related topics too but saving them for other Subs!).
