Suspected PPI rebound - getting back to PPI seems to make it worse?

I was diagnosed with GERD and Grade A esophagitis about four months ago. I have been taking PPIs for about three months (I switched a few times, but for the final month or so I have been taking Dexilant 60mg). Towards the end, I started tapering off, taking Dexilant 60mg once every three days, with Famotidine 20mg in the days in between. I felt generally fine, so I stopped Dexilant entirely a month ago, and started taking on Famotidine 20mg in the morning and Gaviscon at night.

For the first two weeks, things were absolutely fine. I was even thinking about stopping Famotidine, and I have even started trying some food that I had been avoiding. I thought I must be free from PPI rebound.

About two weeks ago, however, I started feeling a bit of discomfort in my stomach when I lie down. For a while I thought it was just bloating/gas (since I have IBS), and the feeling wasn't that similar to the burning sensation that I used to have when I was diagnosed with esophagitis.

But it did not subside for more than a week, and I started to wonder if it was PPI rebound after all. I restarted Dexilant 60mg (one per day) four days ago, but for some reason things seem to have gotten worse? I started getting a slight burning sensation after meals (very similar to when my GERD/esophagitis was at its worst), and I wake up early in the morning with the same burning sensation. I'm starting to even second guess if it is in fact my GERD returning, or if restarting the PPI is making it worse.

To make things a bit worse, I've also been suffering from unexplained dizziness for 2-3 months - did all the major tests and they came back negative. So I've been wondering if the PPI was contributing to the dizziness, which is why I was quite eager to wean off PPI in the first place. (I've also read that dizziness could be caused by reflux/vagus nerve issues)

Has anyone had a similar experience? Any advice would be much appreciated - many thanks in advance!

Edit: I'm aware that PPIs can take a few days to work properly, but it seems strange that my symptoms seem to have gotten worse after restarting PPI?
