Deepsight mystery in throne world

Out of all my years playing Destiny, I still haven’t figured one thing out. On savathuns throne world, there are some deepsight puzzles that spawn a green puddle on the ground. The puddle is similar to the puddles that spawn in the ghosts of the deep dungeon to break shields off the bosses. What do I do in these green puddles? I can’t figure it out for the life of me!
