Labor Costs to Replace Starter in 2007 Honda Civic - Did I get fleeced?

Hi all.

Just got back from the local Honda Service Department just over $1400 poorer after getting a new starter. The breakdown was $860 in labor costs and the rest in parts.

They misdiagnosed me yesterday and said I needed a new battery. The prior battery was fine, but they said I needed a new one. So I had that replaced yesterday as well.

It wasn't until this morning where my car would not restart after getting gas that I needed to get it towed in to get fixed.

By the way, the replacement only took an hour and a half. The department was not busy and they were sending people home. No hourly labor costs are posted. I'm guessing they just make it up along the way to especially bring more money in on a slow and snowy day like today.

So we're looking at an average of $575 for labor. That seems extreme. How bad did I get screwed?
