Welcome to r/BlackSkinAccutane!

Hey guys!!! I created this sub because, as a Black person on Accutane, I realized there were side effects unique to melanated skin that weren’t really discussed in the main Accutane spaces.

For example—my lips are hot pink now. Brighter than they’ve ever been. I spent hours on the other Accutane sub before starting, but I never saw this mentioned. Then, after digging through social media, I found tons of Black people experiencing the same thing. Another thing? Skin darkening in the first few months—something I didn’t see white folks mention as a common side effect.

I’ve been on Accutane for six months now, and I’m two weeks away from finishing. Finally, I’m acne-free, but the dryness is insane right now. So yeah, this journey has been a lot, and I wanted to create a space where we can share experiences, progress pics, advice, rants—whatever to make Accutane easier for us.

• Feel free to invite more people—the more we share, the better!
• If you want to help mod, just let me know.
• Most importantly, let’s support each other and enjoy the space.

Drop an intro in the comments—how far along are you, and what’s been your most unexpected side effect? Let’s talk!
