How to write the change in progression section

Hey everyone, I'm a German international student looking to apply for fall 2025. I graduated earlier this year and will thus take a gap year. In the education section of the common app, it asks for any changes in progression, for which I chose "Did or will take gap year", which opens up a text box to provide any details. To get to the question: How should I write this? Do they just expect a bunch of bullet points or should I write an actual essay?
If it helps, I'm using the gap year to learn and improve some skills that I will have less time for in college (such as drawing and languages) and to save up some money and get myself all the essentials I will need for college.
I was originally going to apply for spring admission, but few colleges offer sufficient aid for spring applicants, so I decided to defer my college start.
