Colleague who I thought liked me rejected my Instagram request.

I know this might seem small, but it somehow makes me insecure.

I‘m kinda new in my department and trying to connect with the others. One guy, who’s also rather new, has been greeting me every day when he saw me and even came around to my office twice. He’s also younger and seems very nice.

I found his Instagram account and saw that he was followed by two other colleagues, who also follow him back. So I sent him a follow request. My profile is public and has pictures of me so he must know it’s mine.

Well, he rejected it and I don’t know what’s going on. I suffer from mild social anxiety and this is somehow triggering to me. Did I do something wrong?

TL;DR: I thought I got on well with a friendly coworker but he rejected my request to follow him on Instagram, even though he follows other colleagues.
